Heyyyy yall, Ace back with another oneeeee. Today I have the pleasure of interviewing October Jonez from Columbus, OH. I believe you're the first person from Ohio I've actually had on here. I'm excited! Let's get to ittt. Yall know how this goes I shouldn't even have to tell yall. I got the drinksss and ice. Come on!
Who are you? Tell us where you from.
A good man to my fiancé & daughter. A cold-hearted player to the world from Columbus, Oh.
How did you get into the music scene?
Lil D on air (K-104 personality) put me on the radio power 107.5 in my hometown. I then became an audio engineer a hitmakersblvd started doing shows then throwing my own events entitled “The OJ experience” which open doors to me being able to then obtain backwoods sponsorship & currently slapwoods sponsorship. I also opened up for lil Wayne lil baby dababy Megan thee stallion & more.
Would you make this a career?
Yes. (I have)
What made you take it seriously?
No one was coming to Columbus, OH to sign artists so a hot song didn’t matter. I knew if I worked in the studio every day I could afford my goals much faster & in 2016 my daughter was born.
If it’s one thing you could change in this, what would it be?
Moving out of state sooner.
How is the music scene in your city? Anything different compared to other places you’ve been or seen?
There is no hub or gatekeepers. Hip hop/ rap artist don’t have the same equal opportunity as other genres to be paid / funded where I’m from.
Who is your top artist right now?
Finesse2tymes.
Has music changed your life? If so, how?
I went from a trap house in my hometown to a 4-bedroom house in a Dallas suburb.
What do you do outside of the music scene?
Read daily, cook, pray, create content, smoke & brand ambassador for brands.
What would you tell your younger self?
Everybody can’t go, find peace in saying no.
Something people don’t know about you.
Music saved my life. I have PTSD so expressing my daily is my therapy.
Dropping anything soon?
Just dropped a singles with empire “Yeah Yeah” & “8pm in Dallas”
